Education

Solar energy systems are as smart for educational institutions as they are for business. Standard Solar has cultivated unparalleled experience working with colleges, universities and public and private K-12 schools. That’s because the Standard Solar team understands that the benefits of hosting solar power assets extend beyond financial benefits: Solar power systems offer schools a unique hands-on opportunity to teach students about renewable energy.

Standard Solar has established a leadership position in developing solar energy solutions for many colleges and universities, as well as private schools and public school systems along the Eastern Seaboard.

Learning in and out of the classroom

We take pride in offering our educational clients solar energy solutions that not only power the classroom, but fuel innovative thinking. Installing systems in educational institutions helps teach students about cutting-edge renewable energy technologies by allowing students to observe the design and construction process first-hand. Working with schools to open and maintain “Solar Labs” helps showcase the solar facilities and educate students. The Labs make data available to students from the initial installation through to project retirement helping communicate solar power’s changing role within our society—in real-time.

Shaping a workforce

As part of our commitment to educating the future leaders of the renewable energy industry, the Standard Solar team works to promote internships with local solar installers for vocational and college students. These internships help boost economic development and drive job creation by offering students a first-hand perspective of origination, design, engineering, permitting, installation, financing, legal and commissioning of solar PV systems.

For younger K-12 students, Standard Solar’s senior staff and experienced engineers guest lecture on applied topics. Students will have the ability to interact with project managers on site tours of the solar system. Future generations of students will have the ability to study the facilities closely while applying their classroom lessons to a practical example. Standard Solar will introduce them to the possibilities of solar power and show them a glimpse of what their role in this future can be.

As a result, our educational installations serve a dual purpose: They’re an environmentally friendly renewable energy source and a valuable educational resource for local communities.
