How It Works

Standard Energy Solutions (SES) is dedicated to being your partner of choice in providing you with the best energy solutions for your home. The most reliable, clean way to receive energy is to generate your own. Learn how SES’s home solar electric systems work below:

Home Solar Solutions

While the process of converting sunlight into electricity that you can use in your home may seem complicated, a home solar electric system is actually quite simple. Solar energy demands little to no maintenance and has no moving parts. An SES solar system has few parts at all, in fact.

Sunlight is captured by PV panels and fed into the inverter. The inverter converts DC energy into AC and distributes it into your home. If the solar energy captured exceeds the amount of energy your house needs, the extra will be sold back to the grid.

SES solar electric systems consist of solar (photovoltaic) panels mounted to your roof or a customized structure for a ground or pole mount, electrical wiring and an inverter. During daylight hours they generate electricity and send it to your inverter—which converts the electricity produced by the panels (Direct Current, or DC) into the type of power your house uses (Alternating Current, or AC) where it then flows into your home to be used by you and your family for your everyday electrical needs. For homeowners worried about frequent power outages, SES also offers battery backup systems and home generators that can complement your SES solar electric system as part of our energy solutions services.

Once your SES solar electric system is installed at home, the utility provider will read your electrical meter and determine your usage. If the solar system produces more power than you consume, your system pushes the extra power back to the electrical grid. You'll get a credit towards your bill for the power you generated but did not use. This credit system is known as Net-metering

An SES solar electric system is a wonderful way to generate reliable, clean energy. Have you gone solar or are interested in other options? Your SES expert will be happy to explore your energy efficiency options and energy management tools that can help you reduce costs, enjoy greater comfort and finally take control your home’s energy.
